Having Fun With My Cricut Imagine

If you know me personally, you know I've just received my new Cricut Imagine. I've talked of nothing else in the last two weeks. Well it is here, it is big!!! and it is worth all the scrapbooking surface it is using!

I haven't been participating to very many challenges lately and I wanted to get right back at it. I also wanted to play with the Cricut Imagine so I did both with the Mojo Monday Challenge 201. I am really pleased and impressed with the result. This machine is going to be fun!

Here is this weeks Sketch challenge with Mojo Monday. I decided to do the circle card. So using the Yummy Art Cartridge and the preloaded shapes on the Cricut I made this card.

First I selected the Scallop circle from the preloaded shapes and sized it to 4.5 inches, I copies it so that I would have two. I also selected the Popsicle on the layered setting at 2.5 inches. I added the border and changed the colour to a teal blue and sized it to 1.5 inches. I selected the Celebrate tag and left it on the assembled image and set it to 1 inch. I picked out of the pendant that had a circle  designed to it and set it to the layered image. I changed the colour of the circle to the chocolate with writing background. I then removed all the other pendant layers and sized the circle to Actual 4 inches. I also changed my setting so that there would not be a coloured border along the edges of my images. When it came to print and cut, it needed to be on two pages to accommodate the sizes I selected.

I trimmed the border to remove the top part and shorten it to fit my circle. And of course I inked my edges in chocolate ink.

I matched the scalloped circle and scored a little bit of the edge on the back piece to create my card.

And then I assembled the card. Using some pop dots on one of the  Popsicle and the tag. Here is the final result.

Heart 2 Heart: Inspire and Mojo Monday 198

I tried to combine both H2H and Mojo Monday challenges this week; and I must say, I failed.

Here is Mojo Monday 198 sketch.

And here is the inspiration picture for the Heart 2 Heart challenge.

It all started when I wanted to create a gift card box. And when I saw the H2H inspiration picture, I visualized the cards right away. I’ve wanted to create these simple outlined cards for a while. The simplicity of it REALLY appeals to me!!! And I am pleased with them.

This is where I went wrong. I should have created a coordinating box, but no I wanted to include Mojo Monday’s sketch 198 as well. The two just didn’t click together as well as it could. But what can I say,

Next time, I’ll create two different projects.

Well here are some close up of each card that I created for the Heart 2 Heart challenge. In that picture I saw the cocktails right away. And I believe CTMH had a cocktail stamp set at one point, I didn't get it. So instead I hunted the world wide web for cocktail clip arts that I printed on cardstock and coloured in with the blending pen and the CTMH ink.

The biggest problem I had with the mojo challenge is that the front of my box left me with fairly limited space and I struggled fitting every elements on.

Heart 2 Heart and Mojo Monday 197

This week I decided to combine Heart 2 Heart’s colour challenge along with Mojo Monday 197 sketch.

I got an order in last week and I was eager to try out my new stamp set. It’s was one that I always admire and envied my customer who got it. Now I’m the lucky one. Yeah!! I selected Outdoor Denim for my blue and I opted for the square card for the obvious reason that it is easier to cut out a square then a circle.

All the material used for this card is from CTMH. Here is the list.

Cardstock:
Outdoor Denim
Barn Red
Bamboo

Ink:
Outdoor Denim Z2104
Barn Red Z2104
Stamp Set:
Ciao D1461

Other:
3D tape
Hemp
Glue Dots
Crop-A-Dile
1 1/4" Circle Punch

I cut out the postage circle stamp with the CTMH circle punch. I then glued it to a piece of Barn Red cardstock and then I freestyles trimmed it for the matting.

I used the Crop-A-Dile small hole punch to create the look of a postage stamp.

At first I found the background much too plain. So I stamped the same image that was stamped in the center in outdoor denim for a tone on tone look. As well as a greeting on the top.

And Voila!! the final product.

Summer Fun Card - Mojo Monday 196

This is my first time participating to the Mojo Monday Challenges. It fact this card is for the Mojo Monday Challenge 196. I flipped the sketch so that the circle would be to the right for my “pocket”.

I used mainly Red, White, and Blue because those colours coordinated with my paper so well. But the end result makes it look very much like a USA Patriotic card. The only problem with that is that I am very much Canadian. I hope I still get to use this card.

I plan on putting a photo of my boys on the front insert. Probably make this a card for their grandparents.

Here is the list of material used (all from Close To My Heart)

Cardstock:
White

Paper:
Fanfare B&T Duos

Ink:
Cranberry Z2116
Pacifica Z2192

Stamp Set:
Fanfare B1377
Other:
Ribbon
Brad from Level 2 Assortment Fanfare Z1400
CuttleBug Star embossing folder (the only non CTMH product)

And there we go, here are a few more close-up pictures.
