Buttons Up!

A few years ago I came across a blog where the blogger had created a form where she could list all the pages she wanted to create for her scrapbook. Helped keep track of all the events that she wanted to scrapbook, which one had pictures printed, which pages was journalled, titled, and when she completed a page she crossed it off the list. At the time I thought it was a great idea. In fact I blogged about it back then. I got great satisfaction from crossing a page off of my list. I had strayed from that list and decided to do it again. Well My list is 8 pages long. In fact for the button challenge I scrapbooked my youngest son's 2nd birthday. (He's 4 1/2 now) So I have some catching up to do. But I did get to cross off the birthday page!!!

Buttons and I are acquaintances... not friends. I always seem to have trouble with using buttons. It's the type of embellishment that I rarely think of pulling out. So this challenge was a little challenging for me. And I got to use the badge buttons for the first time which I stamped in cow print.

Item used for this project are:

Stamp Sets:

My Farm D1219 (retired)
Notice The Detail D1378

Inks:

Chocolate Z2111
Cocoa Z2114

Cardstock/Paper:

Kraft Cardstock Z1375
Cranberry Cardstock 1272
Animal Cookie B&T Duos (retired)

Buttons:

Badge Buttons Z1397
Red Assortment Buttons Z1369
Green Assortment Buttons Z1372

The barn was cut out using my Slice Elite.

So here is a picture of the final results. Buttons and all.

ABC Challenge with Heart 2 Heart

I was blog hoping, again, and came across many brayed stamped images. So I decided that for this challenge I would do a brayed scenic stamped image. So I pulled out my brayer and as it turns out.... I DO NOT have that technique mastered. Huh. Well I will be visiting youtube and fix that shortly. However, in the mean time, I still have a challenge. So instead I grabbed my sponges and did a faux brayed image. Since this was a “test” I didn’t take pictures of every step. My pictures are all of the final product.

Here is the list of item I used:

Inks:
Sunny Yellow z2152
Topiary z2155
Cocoa z2114
Black z2105
Dutch Blue z2119
Amethyst z2100
Sky z2194
Smokey Plum z2147
Grey Wool z2125
Lagoon z2195
White Card stock

Sponges

Blending Pen

I masked off the top half with post its and using the sponges created the “water” with Sky, Dutch Blue and Lagoon. Be sure to ink of on a scrap paper before sponging onto your project. After removing the mask I then stamp my image using black ink. I stamp the moon and bird part of the image on the sticky part of the post it and masked them off as well as the water.

I then created the sky using Amethyst, Sky, Smokey Plum and Black. I then masked all the image revealing only the rocks and used Grey Wool, Smokey Plum, and Black. Using the blending pen I coloured in the trunk in Cocoa. Dabbed some Topiary over the leaves, and gave a hint of a glow to the moon with the Sunny Yellow.

In Memory

I am cheating a little bit on this challenge. I will be using a previous post. I haven't participated to the Heart2Heart challenge in a while as things had taken a crazy turn in my life.

My father in law was diagnosed with lung cancer, then withing days we discovered that it was in the spine and hip then a few more days it was in the neck and brain... I suspect they quit looking after that. Within a month of the initial news we lost him. He was a farmer and we are still struggling a little keeping things afloat on the family farm, so scrapbook time is still hard to find.

But although I had absolutly no time to participate with the challenge; I did miss them. The previous post was a card I had made for my father in law while he was in the hospital. It is using the paper piecing technique. Which tends to be a technique i use again and again.
