Cherry-O Workshop - May

Yeah!!! an other successful workshop. I get so excited the day of the workshop. Its my way of guaranteeing that I can fit in some scrapbook time.

This month the paper pack was beautiful. I love cherry decorated stuff it's such a happy paper. For those of you who don't know I'm a little bit of a paperolic. But hey admitting it is the first step right? Although this is one addiction I have no intention of getting rid of.

Here is the Sample of the workshop.

Although they didn't in this sample inking the edges in chocolate ink really makes the layout pop. Trust me it is worth the effort. To ink the edges (in case you don't know what I mean) you daub a sponge on the ink pad of choice then rub/flick the sponge on the edge of the paper you are inking.

The main featured technique showcased in this month's workshop was the rock-n-roll technique. To complete the cherries first ink your stamp in Tulip ink pad and stamping down on a scrap paper leaving a faint layer of ink on the stamp. Then without cleaning your stamp roll the edge of your stamp into the Tulip ink pad again. Now stamp on your project. This will create the two tone cherry. Really nice. For the leaves, ink your stamp in Sweet Leaf ink pad and then without stamping in between roll edge of stamp in the Chocolate ink pad.

Here is a hint for you. It is easier to accomplish this technique with a smaller block that just fit your stamp.

Well all in all we had a great time. It's so neat to see how everyone pages end up a little different, and some a lot different.

Scrapbooking: A Family Affair

I have my scrapbook table set up in my bedroom.. it's almost floor to ceiling and hard to miss so the kids noticed it. And they love to play with the stuff on it. I started letting them having scrapbook time, mostly so they wouldn't just randomly play with my stuff. There has been a dark green marker and completed Easter page incident... sigh. Here are a few pages created by the boys. I give them a picture that they glue to there paper and then they dictate what they need. They are very specific on the ink colour they need for a particular stamp and so on. I realised just how much they where picking up when we where making homemade valentines. Jerome was cutting a piece of cardstock and was about to glue it on when he announced he needed to ink his edges.

This page was created by Patrick at age of 2.

Also by Patrick at age of 3.

Created by Jérome... you can't really see but he spelt his name with an accent. yeah.

Also by Jérome he wrote the word dirt bike all by himself. At age of 4.

Workshop On The Go

With Adam getting more independent and being able to watch the boys. I'm planning on getting my scrapbook evening started again. I'll be starting "Workshop On The Go" starting March or April. Once a month we will create a two page layout (for those who would prefer; we can create 6 cards 2 each of 3 different layouts). Each month we will be getting a new paper kit, a new acrylix stamp set, a new layout and a new technique featured. The hostess rewards will be rotated between the participants. They will be hosted on the last Wednesday of each month at the Zella Community Association.

First Scrapbook Page In A Looooooooong Time

Well I finally cleared up my scrapbook area, and sneak away here and there and after 4 or 5 days I completed my first scrapbook page in a long time. God I missed it... and I am so behind. Good thing there is a scrapbook weekend coming up soon.

The gears are from my new stamp set "Gear Up" from Close to my Heart that I heat embossed with silver embossing powder ,that I later cut out. Cutting out stamped image is such a mindless, relaxing task... as long as you have the micro tip scissors.

I cut the tag out with my Slice electronic die cut machine, then covered the whole thing with watermark ink and embossing powder. I stamped the words with Staz-On ink.

This page is not the best I ever did. But I do like it and I'm very pleased at how it turned out. Sometimes it seems that a lot of the scrapbook supplies have a feminine feel; so I'm pleased at how masculine this one turned out. Yeah!! I'm scrapbooking again!
I may just have to start my challenges again.

Friends Helping Friends

I always knew that I live in a pretty great area. Last weekend we got to see just how amazing this community really is. Our neighbors and friends organized and/or attended an evening designated to collecting funds to help us out in these trying time.

We didn't know how we would feel, if it would be overwhelming and uncomfortable. But it was nice it felt like a regular gathering and the generosity was overflowing. It was amazing to see so many people attend.

It will sure make a big difference.

How Time Pass

Well that was crazy! My last blog was back in June.. that's hard and easy to beleive. I was back to work full time then I visited my hometown in NB then my husband did this to his wrists (yup both of them).
So I am for the moment no longuer at work and we will be dealling with this for a year or so.
I am hoping to get back to scrapbooking, for myself now, I've put aside Close To My Heart while we are healing... I'm a better buyer then seller anyways.
I'll be posting again soon,
